College selects iTrent solution

Farnborough College of Technology has signed a five-year contract for MidlandHR’s iTrent, which provides a single
platform for HR, payroll, talent management and workforce planning. Implementation of the system, which replaces
disparate HR and payroll systems from a variety of suppliers, will proceed on a phased basis.

Phase one, comprising core HR and payroll, went live in July. These initial modules will be followed by further phases, including absence, occupational health, recruitment and employee and manager self-service modules. The software will operate Farnborough’s existing internal IT infrastructure.

In addition to the standard functionality, the college has also taken on iTrent’s preconfigured, education-specific
elements, including automated staff individualised records (SIR), flexible term time calculations and multiple
employments, to help reduce implementation time and allow it to become immediately operational.

The solution is expected to deliver a range of benefits ranging from increased accuracy, efficiency of process and
reductions in administration, to instant access to real-time workforce information, supporting the college’s strategic workforce decision-making to drive organisational performance.

‘MidlandHR will be responsible for ensuring that through iTrent we remain compliant with the ever-changing payroll
legislation, and we have also passed on responsibility for BACS payments and payslip printing and distribution,’ explained Jim Malyon, Farnborough College accountant.

‘This will allow us to benefit from considerable cost savings and reduce the associated risks surrounding payroll.’
